PRESCHOOL
You can apply for financial aid through Washington State or the City of Seattle. To apply through the State of Washington please apply online through www.washingtonconnection.org or by calling 844-6268687. The team at the Department of Children Youth and Families take about seven days to process the application. Once approved, they let us know what your co-pay will be which could be $0 to $215
To apply through the City of Seattle please apply online through https://www.seattle.gov/education/for-parents/child-care-and-preschool/child-care-assistance-program.
ALL STUDENTS 6+ YEARS OLD
For our afterschool, please fill out this form. We will reply within seven days. For now, the maximum financial assistance we can provide for our afterschool is a 25% reduction in tuition. We consider the nuclear families monthly income and liquid assets. This form is confidential and only reviewed by JOL Directors.
ALL PROGRAMS
We are proud to offer financial aid to those who need it. Approximately 2% of our revenue goes to financial aid. We believe in our mission to create community by bringing people together through the learning of languages and cultures. As indicated above, we now rely on State subsidies for our preschool, but financial aid for all other programs are currently self-funded and we do our best to cover as much as possible for whoever needs it. Please contact us at info@jumponlanguages.com if you would like to discuss further.
Before you reach out to us, please consult your tax accountant. Some parents, including ourselves, have filed preschool, after school and camp expenses as deductions. You will need our EIN and address for that. If you decide to do this please contact us and we can provide you the necessary information.
We do not prorate the cost of monthly tuition for holidays or for the last weeks of June once school is out, so we can continue paying our lease at Phinney Center and our teachers’ salaries so they can deep clean the rooms and wrap up pending items from school-year programs during those periods. Our monthly pricing is spread across the school year and considers the average number of open days across the whole year.
We know plans change, so here's a clear breakdown by program. In general, we do our best to keep registration open early enough for families to plan ahead, while also maintaining waitlists so we can fill any open spots. Because of this, most cancellations after our registration windows close aren't eligible for a full refund — but we always make exceptions for financial hardship, family emergencies, and medical reasons, at our discretion.
Online Classes & In-Person Tutoring
Missing a class? Let us know at least 24 hours in advance and we'll schedule a free make-up class. Without 24-hour notice, the class will still be billed. To cancel your enrollment, just send a written request — you won't be charged for the next monthly cycle, but you're still responsible for the current one.
Afterschool
Registering for the upcoming school year: your first month's tuition is refundable minus a $50/day administrative fee (this acts as a deposit that holds your child's spot). Refund amount depends on when you cancel: full refund before April 1, 75% between April 1–15, 50% between April 16–30, and no refund after May 1.
Current school year: tuition is paid monthly and is generally non-refundable once paid, but there's no long-term commitment. To withdraw, cancel through your online member portal and email us in writing by the 20th of the month to avoid the next month's charge (this applies to every month except September and June). May and June cancellations must be requested by April 20th.
Day Camps (Thanksgiving, Winter, Mid-Winter, Spring Break — not Summer Camps)
Full refund (minus processing fees) if you cancel 2+ weeks ahead. 50% refund with at least 72 hours' notice. No refund within 72 hours of the camp start.
Summer Programs
Full refund minus a $75/child/week administrative fee if you cancel before April 1. After April 1, you'll get a refund minus the $75 fee only if we're able to fill your spot before the program starts.
Emergency Closures (weather, unsafe conditions, etc.)
Online Classes: continue as planned unless the instructor has a personal emergency or outage — in that case, you can reschedule at no cost.
Afterschool: if it's unsafe to travel to the center, we'll notify you right away. Missing 5 or fewer days in a month isn't prorated; more than 5 days can be prorated upon request.
Camps: if a citywide emergency prevents us from running camp safely, we'll offer online programming or a 50% refund for missed days.
Tutoring: affected sessions are refunded back to your package, unless you'd rather continue online.
Have questions about your specific situation? Just reach out — we're happy to help.
All children must be picked up by the time their program ends. We offer a 5-minute grace period. After that, a $15 late fee applies, plus $1 for every additional minute. Five late pick-ups in a year can result in removal from the program.
We recommend adding a few trusted family friends as authorized pick-ups on Brightwheel, so someone can pick up your child if you're ever running late. If a real emergency comes up, please contact us. We're always here to support you.
Very. Approximately 2% of our revenue goes directly to financial aid, reflecting our mission to bring people together through language learning, regardless of their financial situation. We rely on State subsidies for our Preschool program and self-fund financial aid for all other programs, doing our best to support every family who needs it.
