We understand that a familyās life can be hectic, but we still ask and expect all kids that attend our programs to be picked up on before the time the respective program ends. This is important as teachersā time is as precious as that of each familyās and it should be respected. We will provide a 5 minute grace period to pick ups. After the 5 minutes, we will charge $15 and increase another $1 every minute that passes. Five tardy pick ups in a year can lead to termination from the program. We highly recommend you coordinate with other families in the program and add them as authorized pick up on Brightwheel, so if at any point you realize you will not be able to pick your child on time, you can reach out directly to an approved family who can take care of your child while they wait for you. In extreme circumstances, you can contact us and explain why you are tardy. In case of true emergencies, we will always be there to support you.
General Principles Behind Our Cancellation Policies
Before we detail the cancellation policies for each of our programs, we want to outline the general principles that guide them. We strive to make our policies as transparent as possible, and they are clearly accessible when you register for any of our programs, including a direct link to this section of our website.
We understand that some of our programs, especially Preschool, and Afterschool, can have higher demand than our capacity. As a result, we balance the need to open registration early enough for families to plan their schedules with the necessity of maintaining a waitlist and being diligent about reaching out to those on the list as spots become available.
Our goal is to fill our programs to capacity, which helps us minimize costs for families while still compensating our teachers fairly and meeting our other operational responsibilities, such as lease payments and insurance.
Some programs, like camps, afterschool, and preschool, have specific registration seasons. After these periods pass, it becomes much harder to fill spots. If we were to allow late cancellations with refunds, we risk leaving spots unfilled, which undermines our ability to keep costs manageable and meet our goals.
We do, however, make exceptions for financial hardship, family emergencies, and medical reasons, at our discretion.
Program-Specific Cancellation Policies
Online Classes & In-Person Tutoring
If a student needs to miss a class, please inform both us and the instructor 24 hours in advance for in-person tutoring. We will schedule a make-up class at no additional cost. If the student misses a class without notifying us within 24 hours, we will not be able to offer a make-up class, and the full class will be billed as part of the monthly payment.
For monthly subscriptions, each payment cycle lasts one month. You can cancel your student's enrollment at any time with a written request, and we will not charge for the following cycle. However, you will still be responsible for the full current cycle. Example: If your payment is due on the 15th of each month, and we receive your cancellation notice on October 30th, you will pay for the remainder of the current cycle (until November 14th), but you will not be charged for the following month (November 15th).
Exceptions may be made for medical or family emergencies.
Preschool and Afterschool
When registering for the upcoming school year, the first monthās tuition is partially reimbursable, minus a $50 administrative fee per day of the week for which your child is enrolled. You can think of this as a $50 non-reimbursable deposit that ensures your child's spot is held.
Before April 1: Full reimbursement, minus the $50/day administrative fee.
Between April 1 and April 15: 75% reimbursement, minus the administrative fee.
Between April 16 and April 30: 50% reimbursement, minus the administrative fee.
After May 1: No reimbursement.
Transportation and Wednesday early release tuition are reimbursed at the same rates as above.
Example: If you register for a 5-day program with a tuition of $700, and you cancel on April 20th, we will deduct $50 for each day ($250 total) and reimburse 50% of the remaining amount, which is $225. If you cancel on March 30th, you would receive a refund of $450.
This policy applies to registrations made between April 1 and April 30 for the upcoming school year.
For the current school year, families pay monthly in advance via our automatic payment system, but there is no long-term commitment. Once a month is paid, it is generally considered non-refundable unless there are extenuating circumstances.
If you need to withdraw from the program, please cancel your tuition plan through the My Subscriptions section in our online member portal (see instructions here) and send a written notice to info@jumponlanguages.com by the 20th of the month to avoid charges for the following month. This applies to all months except September and June.
September tuition: Refunds will be processed according to the policy above.
Registrations after May 1 for the next school year: Payments are non-refundable, but you may cancel, and we will not charge for October.
Only Afterschool and Preschool:
May and June cancellations: Families wishing to cancel or reduce days for both May and June must notify us by April 20th. We will charge through June 30th to cover teacher salaries and lease expenses through the end of the month.
Only Preschool:
For families wishing to cancel their Preschool subscription for the summer (months of July and August), please note that you must notify administration by April 1, 2025. This is a new addition to our cancellation policy for the Preschool program, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Day Camps (Excluding Summer Camps)
If you cancel 2 or more weeks before the start of a day camp, you will receive a full refund, minus processing fees. If you cancel at least 72 hours in advance, you will receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, no refunds can be issued for cancellations made within 72 hours of the camp start time.
Exceptions may be considered for medical reasons or on a case-by-case basis. This applies to Thanksgiving, Winter, Mid-Winter, and Spring Break camps, but does not apply to summer camps.
Summer Programs
We understand that plans change. Our summer cancellation policy aims to balance flexibility with the need to fill spots for families who may want to enroll.
Before April 1: You will receive a full refund, minus a $75 non-refundable administration fee per child, per week canceled.
After April 1: You will receive a refund minus the $75 fee if we are able to fill your spot before the program begins.
Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or on a case-by-case basis.
Cancellation Due to Extreme Circumstances
For Seattle-based programs (and occasionally online classes), we may experience unforeseen weather or events that disrupt the program, such as snowstorms, heavy smoke, or other emergencies. In these cases, we will do our best to offer alternative programming.
Online Classes: Classes will continue as planned unless the instructor experiences a power or internet outage or a personal emergency. If the session is canceled due to such circumstances, you will be able to reschedule at no extra cost.
Afterschool, and Preschool: If it is unsafe for families or teachers to travel to our center, we will notify you as soon as possible. If we miss 5 or fewer days in a month, we will not issue prorated refunds. If more than 5 days are missed in a month, we will prorate tuition for the missed days, upon request.
Camps: If a citywide emergency prevents us from safely running camp, we will notify families as soon as possible. If we are unable to offer an in-person camp, we will provide online programming or issue a 50% refund for the missed days.
Tutoring: We will cancel any sessions due to extreme circumstances and refund your class back to your package, unless you prefer to continue the class online.
